Michael Ludwig made his debut with the Chattanooga Symphony on Thursday January 15, 2009 with a piece that he has recorded on the NAXOS label to rave reviews- the Dohnanyi First Violin Concerto. "The guest soloist was Michael Ludwig, an impressive performer of international renown. The performance's success was in no small part due to the commanding playing of Mr. Ludwig, who blazed through the most difficult sections with consummate ease. His highly animated style only added to a performance that featured both delicate playing and glorious fireworks." The Chattanooga Times Free Press |

FANFARE MAGAZINE published an extraordinary review of Michael's debut CD in the May/June issue. Speaking of Michael's Bruch Scottish Fantasy and Massenet Meditation, critic Jerry Dubins raved about the "radiance, luminosity and purity" of Michael's tone and said that his interpretive insight could be "an object lesson" to every violinist. Dubins chose Michael's performance of the Scottish Fantasy over the legendary recording of Jascha Heifetz. READ REVIEW HERE |

DOHNÁNYI: VIOLIN CONCERTOS NOS 1 & 2 NAXOS -- April 3, 2008 HERE'S a combination that might not immediately be familiar, but in the outcome delivers a couple of performances that make for enjoyable listening. JoAnn Falletta is already a significant name in America, and is now beginning to further her reputation through her growing recording activity. She is joined by violinist Michael Ludwig and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in two attractive, if obscure, violin concertos by the Hungarian pianist/composer Ernö Dohnányi. The easeful Romanticism of the works is sensuously captured in two poised performances. The SCOTSMAN, Edinburgh |
On April 5 and 6, Michael filled in on short notice for an ailing Nicola Benedetti in two performances of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Virginia Symphony. VIRGINIAN PILOT April 7, 2008 READ MORE |
